What it started with:\u00a0A passion for the Palm Tree.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a beautiful place. You have this infinity of sand in front of your eyes and then you spot a little green heaven nestled amongst the dunes. At first you may think it is a mirage but as you come closer, you realize that this is where life is.<\/p>\n

It is not a surprise that this tree has fascinated many before us and still fascinates today. It is one of the oldest trees in the world and has been cultivated probably since the fifth century BC in Egypt. More recently the oasis is a place we know as an essential stop along trade routes.<\/p>\n

When I was a child, I remember Abdulla telling me about how closely linked his life was with the Palm.<\/p>\n

We often do not measure what this tree symbolises to people who grew up as Bedouins. For many then and now it is still a beacon of life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
